Payroll Services
The PPL Payroll service was developed to complement our Virtual Wallet offering. We understand that employing one or several Personal Assistants can be time consuming for individual employers. We are also sensitive to the fact that PAs need reliable payments, on time, every time.
With that in mind, PPL have developed our in-house payroll offering to seamlessly pay PAs alongside other care services in Virtual Wallet. Our payroll team take care of all payments to your staff, your pension provider and HMRC using your direct payment or personal health budget, as agreed with you.

- Digital payslips direct to your employee
- Sick and maternity pay calculations
- Student Loan repayments
- Electronic filings with HMRC

Charges
Local councils and NHS organisations approach the charging of payroll services in different ways. Some negotiate and agree the specific service they want and the charges directly with us, whereas as others are happy with our ‘standard’ service and charges. Some pay us directly for our services, whereas others provide funds to cover it as part of the direct payment they give to individuals. The most common situation is that we charge individuals for our payroll service, which they pay for from their direct payment based on our ‘standard pricing’ model. Our standard pricing is simple and easy, with no hidden fees or extras. We never charge PAs. The prices are set annually and for 2025/6 are: £10 per pay run for the first employee and £5 per pay run for each additional employee. Prices exclude VAT.
